BJP team visits K'mal, demands drought tag

A team of the BJP-led by senior leader Bijay Mohapatra visited Kandhamal district on Tuesday to take stock of crop loss due to scanty rainfall.

Mohapatra said 50 per cent of the crops have been damaged due to negligence on the part of the State Government. The Government should waive loans taken by farmers for cultivation purpose. Besides, due to irregularity in issue of ration card, people go outside the State to Kerala for employment. Hence, banks should not cut the loan amount from the MGNREGS money, added Mohapatra.

The BJP leader further demanded that the Government declare Kandhamal as a drought-prone district. Among others, senior party leaders Dilip Mallick, Kalandi Samal and Bhrugu Buxipatra were present.
