The BJP on Tuesday demanded that all arrested innocent Utkal University students be freed and fall cases filed against them be withdrawn soon.
“The Commissionerate police have filed false cases against Vani Vihar students at the behest of the ruling BJD. The students, who have already stayed in jail for four days, have started fast-on-to death agitation. The police is not filing chargesheets knowingly because the students would get bails,” said a BJP release.
It said a team of the party comprising Sameer Mohanty, Jagannath Pradhan, Dilip Mohanty, Bishwaranjan Badjena and Chittaranjan Das met the students at the jail and convinced them to call off agitation successfully.
