Although the SEC has declared by-election to the Ward 19 of Talcher Municipality and the model code of conduct is in force, Talcher MlA Braja Kishore Pradhan and Chairperson of Talcher Municipality Pabitra Bhutia inaugurated 50 lED street light projects in the municipality area.
BJD Councilors and officials of the civic body were present at the inaugural ceremony which was held in front of the civil court, the Kishore Club and the Jagannath Park area. The events were also highlighted in media and social media.
Meanwhile, five BJP Councilors, including Gyanendra Kumar Das, Prakash Kumar Moharana, Gyanendra Sethi, Balmiki Prasad Keshari and Kabita Behera have appealed to the SEC to take action against the MlA and others who violated the code of conduct.
Notably, the by-poll was necessitated following resignation of the Councillor.
