BJP Town president Shyam Kumar Dash and other members, namely Ajaya Kumar Chulet, Buridi Laxmi, Siva Bhaskar, Jagadish Sunari, M Bidya Sagar, Rajesh Panigrahi, T Nagaraju, Prashant Mishra and Jayaram Verma submitted a memorandum to the Rayagada Collector on behalf of small vendors and shopkeepers of Rayagada town. They demanded that since the shops dealing in items which are not under essential items category are not allowed to open, they should be exempted from paying their monthly rent during the time period. They demanded the administration to announce the no-rent policy for the shops remaining shut during the lockdown and shutdown period.
The other demands included exemption from electricity charges and instruction to finance companies and private lenders not to harass the loanees for at least 3-4months.
