Hundreds of BJP activists belonging to Goshani Nuagaon unit staged a dharna on the occasion of Deena Dayaal Upadhyaya birth centenary here on Monday demanding taking over of the 165-year-old KC High School by the Government and shifting of the English medium school from its premises at the earliest.
Mandal president Madhusudan Sahu led the dharna where workers also demanded that two other schools, the KC Girls’ High School and the KC Town High School be taken over by the Government.
They alleged that though the Government had decided to take up the proposal to the State Cabinet for approval, the Kabisuryanagar MlA and the District Education Officer made a conspiracy against the proposal. “We demand that the DEO be expelled and the KC Public School operating in the KC High School premises be shifted soon,” demanded Sahu.
He too threatened that the party would intensify its stir if the demands are not met at the earliest.
Among others, party’s State executive member Subasini Patnaik, corporator Dr Namitarani Panda, Dharani Dhar Behera, vice-president Sunil Kumar Sahu, Kamana Padhi, Prabir Patro, district Secretary Rabindra Sahu, Sarat Panda and Pradeep Prusty participated.
