BJP seeks DGP intervention in Irashish arrest

A BJP team led by State president Basant Panda and BJP legislature Party leader KV Singh Deo on Saturday met DGP Dr RP Sharma and sought his intervention in the arrest of BJP Yuva Morcha State secretary Irashish Acharya  on “false” charges.

“At the time of the firing at Sohela on June 1, Irashish was undergoing treatment in a hospital. It is disappointing that the police arrested and court-forwarded him. The police should not act at the behest of the ruling party rather give justice to people as per the law of the contry,” the team mentioned in the memorandum submitted before the DGP.

The team mentioned that Irashish had been undergoing treatment ever since he was attacked by miscreants on March 31. The team lamented that many miscreants involved in Irashish’s attack are still moving scot-free.

Mentioning that Irashish has no PSO at all, the team questioned the police’s claim of arresting him on the statement of his PSO.

The team requested that the DGP conduct an investigation by senior officers and, accordingly, take actions.
