The BJP Mahila Morcha would hold demonstrations with a slogan “Mahilanku Dhoka, Rajyaku lajja” (betrayal to women, shame to the State) at all district headquarters on July 19 to protest negligence allegedly meted out to pregnant women by the State Government.
Morcha State president Pravati Parida informed this at a Press conference here on Saturday.
“Despite huge amounts being provided by the Centre to the State for carrying pregnant women and for institutional births, it has been a daily affair that they are being carried on charpoys, slings and bamboo baskets to hospitals in many parts of the State. Even they are giving births in auto-rickshaws and verandahs,” alleged Parida.
She said pregnant women are facing a lot of problems due to inefficiency of the State Government. “If pregnant women are provided Rs 6,000 aid and nutritious food after six months of pregnancy as per the Government programme, they would not face such an agony,” she said.
