The BJP on Tuesday questioned Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik as to what message he wants to send by sharing a dais with Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra, whose alleged involvement in the Mamita Meher murder case is a talk across the State.
Party State president Samir Mohanty asked the CM whether this isn’t hurting the sentiments of Odia people. “It is astonishing that the person whom police ought to arrest is sharing a stage with the CM. What justice would the people of the State expect?” observed he. He said history would repeat itself in a similar way as late former Chief Minister JB Patnaik protected the then Advocate General Indrajit Ray in the Anjana Mishra case.“It was unfortunate that other than meeting people, the Chief Minister chose to speak through earlier-recorded voice to hoodwink people of Kalahanadi,” Mohanty said.
Similarly, addressing a Press conference, Congress State spokesperson Manoj Mohapatra said that after one month of the Mamita case, the Chief Minister visited Kalahandi and shared the dais with a Minister whose involvement with the case and acquaintances with the main accused Govinda Sahu are crystal clear.
“The Chief Minister indirectly hinted that only when you join the ‘Conch’ party you would be fully protected,” remarked Mohapatra.
He appealed to the people to make successful the Odisha Bandh called by the Congress on November 12 demanding ouster of Minister Mishra and an impartial inquiry. He stated that it would be harmful for the State if Naveen Patnaik continues as Chief Minister.
