BJP protests poor quality road works in Athagarh

BJP workers held a protest march in Athagarh town on Sundayevening shouting slogans against the administration for the low quality road widening works on the State Highway-65 from Khuntuni to Narasinghpur.

The rally was led by BJP Cuttack district general secretary Ramnarayan Mohanty. The activists alleged that huge amount of funds have been embezzled from this Rs 140-crore project. A roadside meeting was also held, where party leaders Bikram Dash, Ramnarayan Mohanty, Bibudha Ranjan Mishra, among others, alleged that there is a close nexus between the administration and the contractor in embezzling Government money from the project by filling mud clays dug by JCB machines from nearby ponds.

Moreover, the contractor is rescheduling the work haphazardly for enhancing the project cost even though it was targeted to complete before March end this year. Several accidents occur on regular interval due to the under construction road work on the route, said district general secretary Mohanty.

The party warned that the administration begin the work as per the work order immediately; else it would be forced to take law into its hand.
