The Gajapati unit of the BJP on Friday took out a rally and staged a demonstration here in protest against the alleged apathetic attitude of the State Government towards the district.
“Gajapati district has been neglected in every sector during 16 years of the Naveen Patnaik Government,” alleged party’s district president V Venkatrabana who led the rally through the Paralakhemunci town.
He severely criticised the Government for tardy progress of Mahendratanaya dam project for which Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had laid foundation stone in 2008. Similarly, he said the Government has not taken any step to fill up vacant teacher posts in the Shree Krushnachandra Gajapati (Autonomous) College and doctor posts in the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
“While 50 per cent of Mahandratanaya project has not been completed, more than 50 per cent of doctor posts in the DHH are lying vacant. Contractual lecturers are managing affairs in the premier Shree Krushnachandra Gajapati (Autonomous) College,” lamented Venkatrabana.
The party demanded establishment of a BEd College here.
Among others, party’s State secretary Bibhuti Jena, Siddheswar Mishra, Shyamsundar Panigrahi, Jagannath Mohapatra, Gourang Gouda and Babuna Behera were present.
