BJP points out 6 ‘failures’ of State Govt

The BJP on Friday alleged that the BJD Government has made six big failures during the first six months of its fifth term and demanded clarification to each of the failures from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

“During the last six months, the number of atrocities against women has increased; massive irregularities have been committed in distribution of rural houses; Central assistances for Fani have been bungled; Make in Odisha conclave has become a big failure; CAG report has proved the State Government’s inefficiency; and the Government has decided to implement Central schemes after failing to get funds for running its own schemes,” alleged BJP State vice-president Samir Mohanty at a Press meet here.

Mohanty further alleged that police have turned to be protectors of offenders involved in gangrape cases and many of eligible poor people have been deprived of getting houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). He too alleged that people who had been affected in Cyclone Fani are still spending days in tents.

Companies which had expressed willingness at the Make in Odisha conclaves in 2016 and 2018 have not yet invested in the State and the Government’s claim of creating jobs has proved futile.

“The State Government has now decided to merge the KALIA yojana with the PM-KISSAN Nidhi Yojana. Before the last electiona, it was not intending to implement Central schemes. The State Government has taken the decision of KALIA-PM-KISSAN merge because it failed to run the KALIA scheme with its own funds,” alleged Mohanty further.   After keeping Coastal Highway project in cold box for many years, the Government has now given its decision.

He too slammed the State Government for not implementing the Aayushman Yojana which provides free healthcare to poor people across the country.

“The Chief Minister should give clarification to people why his Government didn’t implement Central schemes for so many months,” demanded Mohanty.
