BJP plea to withdraw 'Teach-on-call' prog

Published on:

The BJP on Friday reiterated its demand for the withdrawal of ‘Teacher-on-call’ programme under which retired teachers are being appointed in schools to teach students.

“The number of unemployed youths in the State is on the rise. While there are thousands of unemployed trained CT  and BEd candidates waiting for teacher jobs, the State Government’s Teacher-on-call programme is anti-youths and hence be scrapped soon,” said party spokesperson Sajjan Sharma.

He alleged that the State Government has remained apathetic while Shiksha Sahayaks have been staging agitations and hunger strikes time and again demanding regular jobs. “It is quite disappointing that the State Government is not paying any to Siksha Sahayaks’ demands. It should appoint Shiksha Sahayaks, CT and B Ed candidates on regular basis,” said Sharma.

Pointing out that there are various kinds of teachers for teaching same courses, Sharma said the BJP is with the agitating Shiksha Sahayaks for their various demands.
