BJP plans panchayat-level meetings from Dec 26

Claiming that the party’s organisational activity and membership drive have gone up by 10 times in recent past in Odisha, BJP State in-charge Arun Singh on Sunday said the party is ready for the ensuing panchayt polls.

After attending a party office-bearers’ meeting here, Singh told reporters that the party would organise party meetings in all panchayats in the State between December 26 and January 7 to mobilise party workers at the grassroots level and also to sensitise people about the failure of the BJD Government in core issues.

“The BJP will highlight poor drinking water supply, irregularities in distribution of ration card, low quality rice to poor, malnutrition deaths and Japanese Encephalitis menace in the forthcoming rural polls,” said Singh. He slammed the State Government for its failure to spend Central assistance for developmental works in panchayats.

He also condemned the preventive arrest of BJP workers in Sundargarh and Rourkela prior to visit of Chief Minister NaveenPatnaik to these places on Sunday. Party State president Basanta Panda, almost all State-level office-bearers and MlAs attended the meeting to draw strategies to take on the BJD Government in the rural polls.

Panda hoped that the party would perform better in the polls following the recent Mahasamavesh of the party national president Amit Shah in Bhubaneswar.
