The BJP passed a political resolution for a “decisive fight” against the BJD in the 2019 general elections at its two-day State executive meeting that concluded here on Tuesday.

The resolution mentioned about plans to take on the BJD on the mine scam, the ‘misleading’ ordinance promulgated for providing houses to urban poor, the State Government’s inaction on the Mahanadi water dispute, worsening education and health systems, anti-farmer policy, PC culture, unemployment, increasing of electricity tariff and delay in implementation of the 7th Pay Commission’s recommendations.

The concluding meeting, presided over by State president Basant Panda, was attended by four Union Ministers, Prakash Javadekar, Narendra Singh Tomar, Jual Oram and Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP legislature Party leader KV Singh Deo, national general secretaries Aurn Singh and Anil Jail, all MlAs, State functionaries, district presidents and ZP presidents and vice presidents.

Fully prepared reports along with documentations of 34,000 of 36,000 booths were presented at the meeting. It was revealed that many experienced and youth leaders joined the party.

Commenting on the political resolution, Minister Pradhan said the resolution has been passed for a decisive fight against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his party BJD during 2019 general elections.

“National president Amit Shah will review progress of party strategies made for 36,000 votes during his next visit in September. Reports and documentations for 34,000 booths have already been gathered,” said Pradhan.

When asked about Shah’s target to get 120 Assembly seats, Pradhan said the target has not been set loosely, rather made taking practical aspects that are in favour of the BJP now.

“People of Odisha have opted for a change and the recently concluded panchayat election is a reflection,” he said adding that mines loot of Rs 59,000 crore, malnutrition deaths in Nagada, carrying of pregnant women in cots to hospitals and continued agitation of teachers for fulfillment of legitimate demands have frustrated the people of the State.

Regarding Narendra Modi Government’s contribution to Odisha, Pradhan said, during the three years, the Centre has provided 60 per cent assistance for construction of 29,000 houses  under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. While 4,600 km of national highway had been constructed in the State since Independence, 4,800 km NH roads have been sanctioned during the last years.

Besides, the Petroleum Ministry has planned to establish projects worth Rs 1.25 lakh crore in the State.

The meeting also passed a resolution of thanks for Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Central assistances given to Odisha and PNG Minister Pradhan for settling IOCl issue under which Rs 1,500 crore would be available to Odisha annually.
