At a zonal meeting of the BJP at Bargarh on Sunday, the party MlAs decided not to claim their sitting allowances for the 14 days of the last Assembly session.
“Since we have not been able to place any demand of the people during the session due to the chaotic situation in the House, our conscience bites us to claim the payment,” said BJP State president and MlA KV Singh Deo at the end of the meeting.
He added that the Speaker would be informed about this decision in a letter with signatures of the party MlAs.
Most of the MlAs of the party of western Odisha including Rabi Naik, Pradeep Purohit and Duryodhan Majhi were present.
The discussion was mainly on how to make the BJP stronger in the State and make it an alternative to the BJD. Party in-charge for the State Arun Singh also attended the meeting.
