A BJP delegation met Padmapur Sub-Collector Trilochan Patra on Saturday along with some farmers who have been victims of crop insurance fraud. They alleged that crop insurance money in the name of farmers was largely bungled in the area.
Sub Collector Patra promised to take necessary steps in consultation with the relevant officials.
Notably, Padmapur subdivision of Bargarh district is a drought-prone area, with the locals relying mainly on rainwater during cultivation.
There is no irrigation facility and droughts occur here every year due to low rainfall. The farmers in the area therefore suffer crop loss.
However, the irregularities in crop insurance money payment have triggered much discontentment among them.
The BJP delegation included Rajbodasambar Block Chairman Kumar Mani Naik, Padmapur Nagar president Sunil Agrawal, Nagar general secretary lawyer Harishkar Singh, Block MP representative Srikant Panigrahi, Chinmay Kumar Panda, senior leader Subash Patra.
