Who will be BJP Legislature Party Leader in the State could not be decided at a meeting of the party MLAs on Sunday.
The meeting was held in the presence of party central observer Saroj Pandey at the party State headquarters. However, the MLAs failed to elect their leader. BJP national president Amit Shah has been requested to take a final call in this regard, party MLA Bishnu Charan Sethy said after the meeting. Shah would announce his decision “in a day or two”, he added.
Notably, the BJP Legislature Party Leader will be the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Assembly this time in place of the Congress Legislature Party Leader.
The BJP has won 23 seats against the Congress only nine.
Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra and Bhawanipatna MLA Pradipta Naik are in the race for the LoP post.
