Hitting out at the State Government for its failure in curbing the crimes against women and protecting women, the BJP Mahila Morcha on Thursday decided to launch weeklong Statewide protests and demonstrations from March 8 coinciding with the International Women’s Day.

“Women are living in the State with fear of being unsafe. They are not safe at workplaces, roads and even in houses. Crimes against women are on the rise while the State Government is acting like a mute spectator,” alleged party members in a Press release.

Citing the examples of victim women Madhavilata, Bebina, Sujata Bairagi and many others, the Mahila Morcha alleged that the Government has completely failed to ensure justice to the victims and also safety to the fair sex in general.

The party also assigned senior leaders to head the demonstrations in districts.

led by BJP’s national secretary Suresh Pujari, former Minister Jayanarayan Mishra, MlAs Pradip Purohit and Radharani Panda, BJP Mahila Morcha State president Simantini Jena and Sabita Nanda would protest in Sambalpur.

The BJP members would also hold protest meets in Baripada, Rourkela, Rayagada, Kalahandi and Baleswar.
