The BJP Mahila Morcha on Monday took to the streets and protested against the hurling of eggs at and misbehaviour with BJP State secretary lekhashree Samantsinhar on Sunday at Dandamukundapur in Puri district.
Hundreds of workers led by the Morcha State president Pravati Parida went in a procession from the party office and held a demonstration at Master Canteen Square sporting black badges.
On Sunday evening, BJD goons hurled eggs and abused lekhashree in filthy language at the Pipili tollgate in the presence of police officials. The presence of media representative and police personnel at the spot indicates that the incident was pre- planned and sponsored.
The attack on a woman functionary is extremely shameful for the State,said the Morcha president Parida.
In the tenure of 17 years of the Naveen Patnaik Government, which always blows the trumpet of respect and security for women, they are the most neglected and ignored. The incident has put a big question mark on the security of women. The assault on the Bolagarh woman tehsildar by the Begunia MlA and the hurling of eggs on the instructions of Agriculture Minister at Pipili on a woman’s activist indicates that the Chief Minister is anti -women.
The Morcha demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the Pipili incident and the suspension of the police officials present at the spot. Besides, they demanded that Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy tender a public apology for the disgraceful incident.
