The BJP Mahila Morcha, Ganjam district unit staged a demonstration in front of the Brahmapur Sub-Collector Office here on Wednesday demanding probe into the irregularities in supply of nutritional foods to Anganwadi Centres and monetary aid to pregnant women under the Mamata scheme.
The women activists led by Morcha district president Kalpana Mahakunda demanded a special audit of the expenditure made under the two schemes during the last 10 years.
The activists alleged that to address the malnutrition problem among children, the Government has provision of supplying Chhutua and other cooked foods to children aged between six months and six years. But the Government has failed to execute it properly. It has also failed in providing proper monetary assistance to pregnant women.
later, the agitators submitted a memorandum to the Governor via the Sub-Collector in this regard. Among others, State executive member Subasini Patnaik, Dr Namita Panda and BJP district president Kahnu Charan Pati took part in the demonstration.
