Expediting its protest against the sale of Bagala Dharmashala land in Puri, the BJP on Thursday launched an online signature campaign seeking support of Jagannath devotees from across the world.
Inaugurating the campaign in front of the Dharmashala, party State president Samir Mohanty urged the devotees to put their digital signatures in social media in protest against the sale of the Dharmashala land.
“As per law, Dharmashala lands, especially availed through donation, are not sold. It is disappointing that the State Government razed the Dharmashal and sold its land to make leaders and Government officers happy,” alleged Mohanty.
Mohanty slammed the Government for shifting the Jagannath Bishramsthali (rest house) already constructed to the plinth level at a spending of Rs 3.26 crore by the ITDC.
Among others, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra, Puri MLA Jayant Sarangi, Brahmagiri MLA Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra and party State vice-president Pravati Parida were present.
