BJP launches 'latka Jari' campaign

Even though the BJD has ruled the State for 18 long years, it has failed to solve the basic problems of the urban residents. Acute drinking water problems, bad roads, dilapidated sewerage and drainage systems and failure in waste management have brought to the fore the failure of the Government.

When people are going to the Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell to solve their problems, they are not able to meet him.

On these issues, to fight for rights of urban people, as part of its Urban Voice programme, the BJP issued latakas against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in different NACs and municipalities across the State on Saturday.

BJP activists, holding posters, squatted in front of all the 113 NACs and municipalities and municipal corporations in the State.

Senior leaders of the party hung latka in front of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) office. The party threatened to stall functioning of the BMC if no step is taken to resolve people’s grievances within seven days.

“We want to highlight the inability on part of the State Government to use Central funds in the Amrut Yojana and the defunct drainage systems in Odisha,” said BJP leader Samir Dey.
