The BJP on Friday staged a demonstration before the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) office alleging that many parts of the city have turned into garbage dumps.
The demonstrators led by party city president Babu Singh demanded that the problem be solved within 48 hours otherwise the party would be forced to take to the streets.
The agitators alleged that the agencies which are in-charge of garbage disposal are arm-twisting BMC officials. The agencies don’t have adequate manpower and equipments, but they still they have been handed over the contracts.
Till now, there is no appropriate plan for garbage disposal, due to which there are garbage pileups in the residential colonies creating a very unhygienic atmosphere. This has triggered resentment among the residents, they said.
