leaders and workers of Ganjam district BJP on Monday staged a demonstration in front of the Brahmapur Municipal Corporation office here demanding immediate arrest of Bhubaneswar Mayor Anant Narayan Jena on illegal sex charge and for his alleged complicity in the killing of engineering student Ashutosh Mohanty alias Rishi seven months back.
Hundreds of activists led by party’s district president Kahnu Charan Pati held a Chaka Jam, disrupting movement of vehicles for two hours from 10 am to 12 noon.
Party’s State secretary Bibhuti Bhushan Jena alleged that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is protecting Mayor Jena and other illegal doers of his party and wanted to why the police, instead of arresting Jena, have weakened the case. He demanded that the Rishi murder case be probed by the CBI and Jena arrested soon.
Among others, N Rajendra Kumar, Manoj Pattnaik, Siddharth Gangdev, Saroj Sabat, Rajesh Sahu, Siba Adhikar, Pradip Prusty, Suhasini Pattnaik, S Rani and Gouri Sankar Mohanty were present.
