The BJP Mahila Morcha on Wednesday organised meetings with a slogan, “Mahilanku Dhoka-Rajyaku lajja” (betrayal to women, shame to the STate) at all district headquarters in protest against alleged negligence meted out to pregnant women in the State.
Morcha State president Prabhati Parida leading a protest meeting at the Master Canteen here alleged that pregnant women are being carried in charpoys, slings and bamboo baskets to hospitals across the State despite the Union Government is providing funds for institutional birth and child care.
“It is disappointing that pregnant women are giving births in auto-rickshaws and verandahs due to non availability of ambulance services. It is a shame for the State Government,” said Parida.
While Meena Saraf led the programme at Bargarh, Santi Sarap at Sundargarh, Manasmita Khuintia at Bhadrak and Sagarika Guru guided the programme at Balangir.
