BJP hits out at CM for Modi comments

State BJP unit on Tuesday slammed BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his statement that Narendra Modi is not acceptable leader at the national level.

“We don’t need a certificate from Naveen Babu on Narendra Modi,” said State BJP general secretary and chief spokesman Suresh Pujari strongly reacting to Patnaik’s reported statement in New Delhi on Modi. Pujari was addressing a Press conference after the State BJP executive meeting here.

The senior BJP leader, on the other hand, said that the State party executive decided to organise a State wide Jail Bharo movement on June 24 and 25 to highlight the misdeeds, large scale corruption and irregularities like coal gate, loot of mines, involvement of Ministers, ruling party MlAs and bureaucrats in multi-crore chit fund scam and the law and order situation, particularly the growing crimes against women in the State.

Alleging that the deterioration of law and order has become a cause of concern in the State under Naveen Patnaik’s rule, Pujari said quoting official figure that while two farmers were committing suicide everyday, two murders and three rape incidents were being registered daily in the State.

Alleging that the Congress-led UPA at the Center and Naveen Patnaik- led BJD Government in the State are competing with each other neck and neck in volume of corruption, Pujari said that both had come out as joint winners as far as the race of graft is concerned.

Stating that an estimated 20 lakh families are affected in the chit fund scam, he said the BJP executive has rejected the judicial probe into it, ordered by the BJD Government. “If the Chief Minister has any guts, he should announce a CBI or SIT probe under the supervision of the Supreme Court to come clean,” he demanded.

On BJD’s Swaviman Samabesh at New Delhi on June 12 in support of Special Category Status to Odisha, the BJP leader said that the executive felt that the move was politically-motivated by Naveen Patnaik to divert attention of the public from the large scale corruption, mining and coal scam, deterioration of law and order and the multi-crore chit fund scam in which his Ministers and party men were involved.

There has been an underhand deal between the UPA and BJD, he said and alleged that Naveen Patnaik had illegally recommended for coal block in favour of Jindal without any MoU and any proposal from the company on the eve of 2009 general elections.
