Hundreds of BJP activists under the leadership of Cuttack district executive member Shankarsan Mohanty and Samasarpur zone president Nimain Charan Rout on Monday gheraoed the Athagarh Sub-Collector office for an hour.
They shouted slogans against the irregularities in selecting the actual beneficiaries in the Government schemes. The agitators alleged that the selection of beneficiaries in Indira Awas, Mo Kudia and Biju Pucca Ghar plans was made to suit the interest of the BJD party supporters.
Similarly, the subsidy on seed, pesticide and other agricultural equipment was given on partisan basis, they alleged.
This apart, road widening project from Khuntuni to Narsinghpur run by the Works department through contractor RKD is of substandard nature and being delayed unnecessarily with an intention to enhance the estimate costs, they said.
last time BJP MlA candidate Biswa Sundar Mishra, District Mahila Morcha member Swagata Pattnaik, Athagarh Bar Association president Jagadananda Tripathy, State Minority Cell executive member Prakash Sethi, Khuntuni zone president Umesh Samal, Ghantikhal zone president Ranjan Senapati among others were present.
The agitators presented a three- point charter of demands to the Sub Collector.
