The BJP on Sunday urged Director General of Police (DGP) BK Sharma to take stringent action against Jajpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Charan Singh Meena for “character assassination of Haridaspur VLW Smitarani Biswal after her death and for derailing the investigation process to protect main accused Rupesh Bhadra”.
“The SP has impacted the investigation by terming Smitrarani’s death as suicide and saying that Rupesh had a relationship with her. He has done so to protect main accused Rupesh Bhadra and other BJD leaders involved in the crime. Saying Rupesh and Smitarani were in a relationship, the SP has assassinated the character of Smitarani after her death. His statement leads to violation of human rights,” alleged BJP vice-president Samir Mohanty.
Mohanty informed that a team led by him met the DGP and urged stringent action against the SP. Former MP Bibhu Tarai, party’s State secretaries Dillip Mallick and Dr Lekhasri Samantsinghar, State spokesperson Sudipta Ray and Mahila Morcha president Pravati Parida were in the team.
