BJP demands re-poll in Ghasipura's 84 booths

BJP candidate for Ghasipura Assembly seat Satyabrata Panda and candidate for Keonjhar lok Sabha Ananta Nayak on Wednesday demanded that the district Collector and SP of Keonjhar be arrested soon in connection with the alleged booth rigging in Ghasipura by BJD supporters.

The two BJP leaders alleged that BJD leader Badri Narayan Patra in support of the district administration had made a master plan for rigging of 84 booths in Ghasipura block well before the polling day.The BJP has already produced visual evidence before the Election authorities to prove its allegations that booth rigging took place by BJD  supporters. Despite this, re-polling has been ordered for only one booth in Ghasipura block, they lamented.

“We demand that re-polling be done in the 84 booths of the constituency. If our demand is not met, we would resort to a district-wide protest,” the leaders warned. On the other hand, BJD candidate Badri Narayan Patra has refuted the charges saying that they are making complaints because they already know that they will be defeated.

“If something wrong was noticed by polling agents, why they did not lodge any complain with the booth presiding officers on the spot and waited so long until the poll process was over,” Patra said.
