The Vigilance sleuths have conducted raids on the houses of former Champua BDO Bimbadhar Sahoo, ABDO Dhaneswar Naik, Junior Engineer Surendra Jena, Additional PD DRDA M Biswal and a host of other block officials in connection with misuse of MP lAD Fund vis-à-vis Ramla-Champua road project.

The Vigilance recently received an allegation that BJD MP Jaswant Narayan Singh laguri had, in 2011, allocated Rs 20 lakh from his local area development (lAD) fund for development of a road in his native village Ramla. The MP had awarded the work order in the name of his private secretary Jagannath Purty. Meanwhile, the Sarda Mines built the road at an expenditure of Rs 32 lakhs in the same year. Taking advantage of it, a false bill of Rs 20 lakh was drawn in favour of Purty. The BJP has demanded that MP laguri and Purty be included in the investigation soon.  laguri was aware about the work undertaken by Sarda Mines and allocated funds in the name of his private secretary only to fulfil his ill intention, the party alleged.
