BJP State president and Nuapada MlA Basanta Panda visited the family of Pitabasa Majhi, one of the martyrs of the Uri terrorist attack, at his Danujhola village in Nuapada district and paid homage to him on Wednesday.

Panda then held a Press meet and demanded enhancement of financial support to the family of Pitabasa. “The Government has given only ten lakh rupees to the family of Majhi, which should be enhanced to twenty lakh,” said Panda. He also demanded a monthly pension of `7,000 to the widow of Pitabasa and at the same time a pension of `5,000 to his old parents.

“When the Government of UP has assured such pension provision for a Sahid jawan of that State, why should not the Odisha governmentIJ” asked Panda. He also said that the family should be provided 10 acres of land and a Government job for the martyr’s wife Bedamati.

“We will make a statue of Pitabasa at his village and another one at the block headquarters Komna with public support,” added Panda.

Panda was accompanied by BJP Krushak Morcha district president Sanjay Tiwari and other party members.
