BJP demands bus fare reduction

Published on:

Following a downward revision of diesel price recently, the BJP on Friday demanded immediate reduction of bus fares.

“The diesel price was reduced by Rs3.63 per litre recently. While private bus operators are agreed to welcome a Govt decision to reduce bus fares by implementing the automatic fare revision policy, the Govt is sitting idle on the issue,” said party spokesperson Samir Mohanty in a Press release. After the reduction, the price of diesel has come down to Rs59.87 per litre from Rs63.50, he pointed out.

The fare revision for private buses was last effected from Sept 1 following the bus owners’ repeated threats to go on strike.
