Hundreds of BJP supporters on Tuesday staged a demonstration and protest meeting in front of Jagatsinghpur SP office, demanding immediate arrest of BJD MlAs Debasis Samantray and Dr Pramod Mallick.
They also demanded suspension of SP Sudha Singh alleging her carelessness to control the unsavory incident that occurred in Tirtol police station during Prime Minister’s visit to Paradip on February 7 last.
The BJP supporters blamed the district cops as they were sitting idle over the last one week against MlA Samantray who along with his men had attacked BJP supporters at Sarala road near Tirtol.
Police have taken no step even after complainant BJP leader Ramakanta Bhoi received threat call from the BJD people. The probe so far has been lackadaisical, they alleged.
District BJP leaders Upendra Biswal, Raghunandan Das, Satyabrata Mohapatra, Pratap Mishra and former Minister Samir Dey among others were in the gherao programme. The BJP supporters took out a rally from college square here and shouted slogans against police for inaction on Tirtol incident.
