After the Congress splitting hairs alleging that the State Vigilance police are shielding the ruling BJD MlAs and corporators in the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) relief material loot incident, the BJP on Thursday upped its ante over the incident by staging a dharna in front of the office of the vigilance director here.
led by former Minister Samir Dey, BJP workers submitted a memorandum to the Vigilance Director demanding immediate arrest of the tainted corporators involved in the shocking incident and bring the Mayor and MlAs into the purview of the investigation.
The Vigilance has booked many BJD corporators and four CMC officials after registering cases against them under several sections of IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act for their alleged involvement in looting relief materials from the office of the civic body in October last year when the State was hit by a severe cyclone. Dey threatened that the BJP would now go to “the people’s court” seeking justice.
