BJP decries misbehaviour to Sambalpur MLAs

Published on:

BJP State president Samir Mohanty  on Wednesday slammed the State admonition for the alleged misbehavior meted out to the party’s two MLAs Jayanarayan Mishra and Nauri Nayak while they were going to submit a memorandum to the Sambalpur district  Collector relating to the plights of both Covid and non-Covid patients in the district.

“As people’s representatives, the MLAs shoulder a big responsibility to see that the Covid management and other healthcare systems are going on well. Mishra and Naik had gone to the Sambalpur Collectorate to discharge this duty. Instead of listening to them on their suggestions, the district Collector drove away them by police. The Collector leveled false charges against them. This had not even happened in British rule. The BJP severely criticizes this act of the Collector,” Mohanty told a Press conference.

He said the BJP had recently sent a memorandum to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik through the RDC regarding non-fulfillment of Government announcements of converting the Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital into a Covid facility and establishment of a 30-bed ICU and not taking appropriate steps for treatment of non-Covid patients. However, no step has been taken.

Mohanty too alleged that the administration and police are not taking any action against BJD leaders when they violate Covid guidelines.

He said MLA Pranab Prakash Das and Minister Sushant Singh had recently celebrated birthdays among supporters and the Sorada BJD MLA distributed moved to houses in violation of Covid norms. Law Minister Pratap Jena organised a public meeting in Mahanga.

Alleging that the State Government has adopted different policies for the BJD and non-BJD leaders, Mohanty said stopping BJP MLAs from raising people’s problems is an anti-people act.
