BJP decries decision to close 165 schools

BJP State secretary Dr Jatin Mohanty on Monday said the School and Mass Education Department’s decision to close 165 schools  in the State is very regrettable and against the interests of the State.

“For the last few years, students are forced to get enrolled in private educational institutions giving huge amounts of money due to inadequate numbers of teachers in primary, secondary and high schools in the State. In such a situation, the Government’s decision to close down schools on the pretext of absence of students is completely unacceptable,” Dr Mohanty said.

As per reports of concerned department, around 21,000 teachers’ posts are lying vacant in the State, he said, who further demanded that the Government withdraw the decision forthwith, fill up the vacant teachers’ posts on a war footing basis and stern action against teachers, who remain absent from duties.
