BJP decries BJD's stand on Talaq Bill

Published on:

The BJP on Thursday slammed the BJD for not supporting the Triple Talaq Bill presented in the Parliament by the Union Government on the advice of the Supreme Court. “It is disappointing that BJD Parliamentary Party leader Bhartruhari Mahtab suggested for reconsideration of the Bill. It is not appropriate to oppose the Triple Talaq Bill and, by doing so, the BJD is trying to do caste vote bank politics,” said BJP legislature Party leader KV Singh Deo in a statement.

When asked to say about successes achieved by the State BJP in 2017, Singh Deo said, “The success in pachayat election and move to strengthen organisation at grassroots are good news for the BJP.

But suicide of 18 farmers in 50 days is bad news for the State and the State Government’s refusal to accept these suicides is worse.”

He said the BJD now fears his party’s strength and, hence, its leaders are talking of making alliance with the Congress.

He said the BJP would certainly win the Bijepur  by-poll.
