The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems to be unrelenting from its attack on the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) over the issue of murder of Health Minister Naba Kisore Das.
On Wednesday, Leader of the Opposition in State Legislative Assembly Jayanarayan Mishra (BJP) brought serious allegations against the State police that the latter does not appear to bring to light the suspected involvement of bigwigs with the murder.
"Police have arrested Gopal Das, an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police, in connection with the murder. The accused was just the shooter, who executed a plot by firing gunshots. But police are not searching for the handler. Many bigwigs are behind the murder. Police are doing a drama in the name of investigation. I dare the State Government to get the case investigated by an independent agency and expose the bigwigs who masterminded the crime," said Mishra.
He continued, “The Crime Branch of police recreated the crime scene on Tuesday. This was just a time pass and an attempt to mislead people. The investigation is heading nowhere.”
There was, however, no reaction yet from the side of BJD.
On Wednesday, Director General of Police (DGP) Sunil Bansal visited Jharsuguda district and went to the crime spot at Gandhi Chhak in Brajarajnagar. He was accompanied by Director (Intelligence) Sanjeeb Panda and Northern Range IG Deepak Kumar.
“The Crime Branch investigation under the supervision of Justice JP Das is underway. We have appealed to the court to take accused Gopal Das on further remand. The investigation will take time,” Bansal said.
However, the opposition parties criticised the DGP for allegedly keeping mum over the brutal killing of Das.
In another development, Gopal Das, after being taken on a fresh five-day remand on Wednesday, was flown to Gujarat for further examination of his mental illness.
