Hundreds of BJP workers staged a demonstration in front ofthe office of Superintendent of Police here on Tuesday, demanding arrest of the persons allegedly involved in duping funds of investors in the Sundargarh District Multipurpose Cooperative Society ltd (SDCS).

later, a delegation led by BJP district president Dhiren Senapatysubmitted a memorandum for the Governor, demanding proper inquiry into the matter.

Sources said three investors of the city, all residents of Bondamunda area of the city, had filed separate FIRs in Bondamunda police station, here on Friday, alleging that they had been duped of their deposited amount by the SDCS of which Rourkela MlA Sarada Prasad Nayak is the president. In one FIR, Sanjay Dandpat, a resident of Diesel Colony of Bondamunda area of the city, mentioned that he had deposited `20,000 with the SDCS during 2005 as the fixed deposit and was supposed to getback `40,000 in 2012, but he had been completely cheated of the sum of money as the organisation was closed. Dandpat alleged that SDC Ssecretary Prasanna Acharya and treasurer Dilip Mohanty had persuaded him to deposit the money under the pretext that Sarada Nayak was the president of the cooperative. Accordingly, in his FIR, he complained against Nayak, Acharya and Mohanty for duping him.

Similarly, Nilambar Gope, another investor and resident of Bondamundaarea, also in his FIR against the three persons complained that he had been duped of `12,680, which he had deposited in 2009 under daily deposit scheme. He had not got back his money since then and none ofthe office bearers of the SDCS had listened to his pleas. Punam Purty, the third complainant also brought similar charge against the trio forhaving been duped of `10,600, which he had deposited during 2001.

Meanwhile Rourkela MlA Nayak denied the allegation levelled against him and claimed it as a politically motivated attempt to tarnish his image.

The BJP also raised a doubt on the probity of the IIC of Bondamunda police station since the FIRs were yet to be registered and accused arrested. The party has also demanded a probe into the financial fraud by the Crime Branch and hearing of the case by the Patra Commission which has been set up to adjudicate petitions pertaining to the chitfund scam in the State.

like the BJP, the Congress also staged a demonstration here on last Friday in front of ADM office submitting a memorandum for the Governor for proper inquiry into the

financial fraud.
