BJP Assembly candidates Dilip Ray (Rourkela), Jagabandhu Behera (Raghunathpalli) and Shankar Oram (Biramitrapur) filed their nomination papers on Wednesday in presence of huge crowds.
In the morning, more than 5,000 BJP workers, supporters and sympathisers gathered at Bisra Chowk along with party flags. From there, they moved in a procession walking to the Returning Officer’s office at Uditnagar through main road.
While going through the main market, the leaders were greeted by the public at many places with flowers and encouraging slogans. The Bisra Chowk and main bazaar witnessed traffic jam for more than an hour.
Samata Kranti Dal leader and sitting MlA George Tirkey also filed his nominations for his Biramitrapur constituency in the day being accompanied by a large number of supporters.
While Dilip Ray, a former Rajya Sabha member, was earlier elected to the Assembly from Rourkela twice, Shankar Oram was elected to the Assembly once and Behera would seek elections for the first time.
BJP Sundargarh lok Sabha candidate Jual Oram will file his nominations on Saturday, the last day of the filing of nominations.
