Mitra doesn’t rule out poll alliance in State

BJP State Prabhari (in-charge) Chandan Mitra on Saturday said the clarion call given by Narendra Modi for a “Congress-Mukt Bharat” should be followed by a “Naveen-Mukt Odisha”.

Addressing State party office-bearers here at a meeting held to chart out strategy for the coming General Elections, he gave the message “Abhi nahin to kabhi nahi.”

Dr Mitra said Narendra Modi’s visit to the State on February 11 would invigorate the party workers and the party would ensure that Modi’s rally would be a monumental one.

Dr Mitra stated that there is conclusive proof of a mining scam in Odisha and the complicity of the State is quite conspicuous. It is time for Naveen Patnaik to face legal action as his Government is a party to the monstrous scam.

Similarly, huge unemployment, deteriorating law and order and acute poverty have undermined the State’s dignity. All this justifies Patnaik’s ouster from power and everyone should pledge to work towards this end.

“We should have fighting spirit, and we have to go all alone into the battlefield which will ensure our victory in the coming elections,” he said.

Among others, Sah Prabhari Arun Singh was present at the meeting, which was chaired by State party president KV Singh Deo. Also present were senior leaders including Jual Oram, Dharmendra Pradhan, Bimbadhar Kuanr, Suresh Pujari, Manmohan Samal, Prasanna Mishra, Surama Padhi, Sanchita Mohanty and Nayan Mohanty.

Earlier, Dr Mitra told mediapersons that though in the last general elections in 2009 the BJP had faced drubbing, the party has a much better prospect in the upcoming polls.

Since the wind is in favour of Modi nationwide with his projection as Prime Ministerial candidate, Mitra said kick-starting his campaign in Odisha would bolster the party organisation in the State to perform better. The Modi effect has been very big and here in Odisha it will certainly work wonder, he said.

To a question, the senior BJP leader reiterated that the party in Odisha would go it alone in the next elections. However, as of now, the BJP has no alliance in the State, nor is the party unit interested to forge one with any party, he clarified.

However, at the same time, he did not rule out an alliance with like minded parties in future with a rider that the shape of things would be finalized only by the State and Central leadership. “Nothing can be ruled out in politics,” he quipped.

BJP national general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Dharmendra Pradahan and State party chief Singh Deo also exuded their confidence that the local party unit would contribute substantially in the effort to bring Narendra Modi as the next Prime Minister.

“Certainly, NDA led by BJP would be successful in forming a formidable alternative force after the general elections to provide the country a strong , transparent and people friendly Government at the Center,” said Pradhan.

Singh Deo asserted that BJP in Odisha would win at least 50 percent of the lok Sabha seats to see that Modi becomes the next Prime Minister.
