The BJP Athagarh unit has called an Athagarh Bandh on Saturday in protest against the as the fast deteriorating law and order situation here also resulting in journalists being repeatedly assaulted by supporters of local BJD MlA Ranendra Pratap Swain for publishing misdeeds of ruling party leaders and embezzlement of Government funds in public offices.
Recently, two journalists were attacked by the MlA’s supporters, but in no case the local police have arrested anyone involved in the case even after a week of the incident. Rather, police are working as agents of the ruling party leaders.
The administration had called a peace committee meeting and appealed to all concerned keep up peace and tranquility, but the MlA’s supporters have been trying to create disturbance in the region.
In such a situation, the BJP has called an Athagarh Bandh, which has been supported by the Athagarh Yubak Sangha, the Sara Akash CIJub and other local organisations. Prior to the Bandh, organisers held picketing on Friday evening.
