BJP Mahila Morcha and Yuva Morcha members led by party Ganjam district president Kahnu Charan Pati held a demonstration and burnt effigies of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Surjya Narayan Patro here on Monday targeting the State Government against onion price hike. The members alleged that though the onion price has risen to ` 50 per kg, the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department has remained a mute spectator. Pati said the State Government is merely shedding crocodile tears over the hike in lPG cylinder price.
A memorandum on onion price rise was submitted to the Sub-Collector. Among others, Sarat Kumar Sahu, Amulya Kumar Choudhury, Ram Kumar Patra, Pravat Kiran Sadangi, Suman Satapathy, Sunil Kumar Sahu and Banaja Panda were present.
