BJP: Blasts at Patna rally an attack on democracy

The serial bomb blast on the Hunkar Rally is a blow to the democratic system of the country. It was the biggest-ever rally at the Gandhi Maidan. However, there were severe, intentional loopholes in the security system, alleged senior BJP leader Manmohan Samal at a Press conference here on Tuesday.

He alleged that the Bihar JD(U) Government didn’t provide the level of security needed to handle such a huge rally even if an alert was sounded by the Intelligence Bureau on October 1 and October 23. Notably, some Gujarat police officials said there was inadequate security measure along with Advance Security liaison (ASl) which is necessary when a Chief Minister of another State visits.

“We demand the incident to be seriously reviewed ensuring no such incident in future.  The party demands that there be a high-level inquiry strictly looking into the lapses and strong action be taken against the conspirators,” said Samal.

Samal informed that BJP national president Rajnath Singh would visit the 13 flood-hit districts of the State on November 1. Singh would make an aerial survey of the affected areas and meet the affected people in Ganjam and Baleswar districts.

Besides, he said, the State BJP would reach out to the affected people of every block on November 4 and 5 and hold demonstration before the BDO offices by putting peoples’ demands block wise.

Condemning the incident of Tikri in Rayagada district, where a woman schoolteacher was set afire after she refused to withdraw the case filed by her against the School Inspector (SI) of the area, BJP State Mahila Morcha president Simantini Jena said the 36-year old teacher had approached the DI, the district Collector and even the Minister of Education against the sexual harassment attempts of the SI Netrananda Dandasena but to no avail. She requested all of them for her transfer, but her plea went unheeded.

Not only the SI but also the DI, the Collector the Minister are in the alleged criminal conspiracy, Jena alleged and said they all must be booked and criminal charges should be levelled against them. BJP State vice-president Surama Padhi and spokesperson Sajjan Sharma were among others present.
