BJP begins Janakalyan Yatra from Chandahandi

To strengthen party base ahead of the panchayat polls next year, the BJP launched a 14-day Janakalyan Yatra from Chandahandi in tribals-dominated Nabarangpur district on Thursday.

Party’s state president Basanta Panda launched the yatra at Beheramunda and attended roadside meetings at Jharigam, Umerkote,

Dabugam, Jatabal and Papadahandi. The day’s yatra concluded at Chaumuriaguda, Nabarangpur where he addressed a public meeting.

Panda said the main objective of the yatra is to know whether benefits of welfare schemes undertaken by the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre are reaching grassroots level or not and inform people about State Government’s various failures, corruption practices and BJD leaders’ links with criminal elements.

“ I am astonished to see that the Jharigam Community Health Centre (CHC), is running by AYUSH doctors. While a large number of people are dependent on it, there are no doctors in gynaecology, paediatric and surgery departments,” he alleged. Similarly, he alleged that the RTO post at Nabarangpur, the home dstrict of Transport Minister Ramesh Majhi, has been lying vacant for long. The Government has failed to provide quality education, irrigation and health services to the people of Nabarangpur, he added.

Among others, party’s State general secretary Bhrugu Baxipatra, former MP Parshuram Majhi, district president Govind Jain, youth leader Kanhu Dash accompanied Panda in the yatra.
