Mounting pressure on the BJD Government over the murder of minor girl Pari in Nayagarh district, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday began a five-day padayatra from here demanding justice for the victim and her family.
A BJP leaders’ team, including party national spokesperson Sambit Patra and State president Samir Mohanty, hjeaded the padayatara from the Lingaraj Temple in the morning.
The party would hold a public meeting at Pari’s Jadupur in Nayagarh district after concluding the padayatra there on December 24.
BJP leaders, including Mahila Morcha national president Vanathi Srinivasan, reiterated that the party’s agitation on the Pari issue would continue with the demand that a CBI inquiry be made into the five-year-old girl’s murder and Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo be dismissed from the Cabinet as he is shielding Babuli Nayak, the main accused in the case as Nayak is a close aide of his. The party has announced that rallies would be held in all the 147 Assembly constituencies for a public debate on the Pari issue and the disturbing trend of missing of thousands of children in the State.
