BJP alleges PMAY irregularities in B'pur

The BJP Ganjam unit on Wednesday demanded a proper investigation into what it alleged as massive discrepancies committed in the selection of beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Ward-27 of the city.

“Many poor families of the Nehru Nagar area have been deprived of houses under the PMAY and, instead, outsiders enlisted as beneficiaries. This needs to be investigated properly,” demanded party’s Gosani Nuagaon functionaries at a meeting here.

The meeting held under chairmanship of president Madhusudan Sahu too alleged that drinking water supply has been disrupted severely in five wards, 25 to 29.

They demanded that the water pipeline be spread from Bijipur to Gosani Nuagaon at the earliest. They too discussed issues like sanitation, road construction, street lighting and restoration of ponds.

They decided to stage a dharna at the BMC office if the above demands are not met soon.

District president Kahnu Charan Pati advised members to form booth-level committees to strengthen the party. Mandal secretary Sudheer Kumar Mishra read out a draft proposal at the meeting. State executive member Jayanti Padhiari attended as observer.

Among others, Rabindra Sahu, Rajesh Sahu, Pravat Sarangi, Kamana Padhy, Sunil Sahu, Namita Rani Panda and Prafulla Sahu were present.
