The BJP on Saturday threatened to stage agitation against the lPG companies’ decision not to supply gas cylinders to consumers who have no Aadhaar cards.
BJP State spokesperson Sameer Mohanty said his party strongly opposes the lPG companies’ “harsh” decision. The Supreme Court has ruled that Aadhaar cards are not compulsory for people, he pointed out.
Stating that 50 per cent of the people in the State are yet to be issued Aadhaar cards, Mohanty urged the State Government to come up with a policy at the earliest to help lPG consumers get cylinders in a hassle-free manner. Otherwise, the BJP would be forced to take to the streets, he warned.
