The BJP inaugurated its Gandhi Sankalp Yatra in all the Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies across the State to mark the 150th year celebration of Gandhi Jayanti on Wednesday.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan along with BJP leaders and workers paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at the Gandhi Smruti Pitha at Telengapentha in Cuttack district. Later, they moved in a Padyatra through Kota Sahi, Badhei Sahi, Nachhipur, Kajipur, Amania Gorada and Sinda to reach Balisahi where

Pradhan addressed a public meeting.

Pradhan urged people to stop use of single-use plastic and instead use carry bags made from paper sheets and cloths. On the occasion, he equated the Centre’s Make in India with that of Mahatma Gandhi’s concept of self-dependence.  He said Prime Minister Narendra Modhi is committed to fulfill all dreams of Mahatma Gandhi.

“We all have to follow the ideals of Bapu. We must make a mass movement to spread Gandhiji’s messages of clean environment, water conservation and population control and it will be the best gift to Gandhi on his birthday,” said Pradhan.

MP Jual Oram and Union Minister Pratap Sarangi launched Gandhi Sankalpa Yatras at Sundargarh and Baleswar, respectively.

The BJP would hold the Yatra till October 30.
