Bringing an end to all speculations regarding the choice of NAC chairman here, Suchitra Sahoo of ward no-3 (Gada Sahi) made it to the top post in the civic body. In the 18-ward Athagarh NAC, BJD had won 15 wards, while opposition Congress was satisfied with only three.
In the chairman election held on Monday, two candidates, Alaka Dalai from Congress and Suchitra Sahoo from BJD were in the fray. However Suchitra got all the 15 votes of the BJD. She participated in a rally in the town after the results were out.
